Another Skylar Funny

Skylar and I went and ran some errands on Memorial Day and had a very interesting conversation on the way.

Skylar- “Mommy, there are a thousand Gods.”

(Oh no! What am I teaching her? Where is she getting this from? Surely First Baptist isn’t preaching of more than one God! I have got to do better.)

Me- “No, honey. There is only one God.”

Skylar- “Nooooo, my Sunday School teacher said that we all have God inside of us and there are a thousand people so there has to be a thousand Gods.”

(Okay, so maybe not so bad. At least she has the main concept right. Now to tweak it a little bit.)

Me- “ You are right. We do all have God inside our hearts but we just carry a little piece of him with us. Not the whole thing. There is just one God.”

(There, that should explain it. Whew, fixed that one.)

Skylar- “So, which piece do I have? His elbow or his knee or what?”

(LOL I think we have a little more work to do!)

Backyard fun

While Skylar and Matt went to t-ball practice tonight, I let the two little ones play in the backyard so I could start supper. Their favorite thing to do is ride in the jeeps. Skylar has one and so does Brayden. Peyton just likes to play the part of Miss Daisy at this point but I think if the other two would let her, she would take the wheel and drive it for all its worth. Here are a couple of pics...

Brayden convinced her to hop out and pick up a pine cone. No sooner had feet hit the ground, he took off. I was laughing so hard that I couldn't really get a great shot but you can certainly feel her pain. lol

He came back to get her almost as quick as he had left her. I didn't even have to yell. (Although I was still laughing so hard that I don't think I could have if I tried. lol)

She then decided to play coy and act like it didn't really hurt her feelings after all.

He coaxed her back in after a few seconds and all was forgiven. (At least HE was forgiven. I don't think I got off so easy. lol)

Toothy adventures

Skylar has had a tooth that has been bothering her for quite awhile. She went and had it looked at a few weeks ago and they filled a cavity on it but she has been complaining about it ever since. We weren't quite sure how much was real and how much was attention seeking but with the trip to CA next week, I didn't want to take the chance. So...Matt had a half day yesterday and he took her to the dentist where it just so happens that mother-in-law works. They got a good xray of it this time and sure enough, she had a small abscess. Because it was a baby tooth and the permanent tooth was already pushing on it, they made the decision to go ahead and pull it. Well, Matt hightailed it out of there (He can't handle that kind of thing...MEN!) and Gwen had to hold her down but they got it out. She is doing fine now. She is a little sore but so glad to be rid of the pain (not to mention she got $2 and a 'gold' piece from the Tooth Fairy). Here is the offending object in all its glory. Have you ever seen anything like it? Pretty scary!!! lol

Skylar Funny

Yesterday I took Skylar shopping at AC Moores (craft store) because she had such a good week at school last week. As we were turning in to the parking lot, there was an old man standing on the corner with a wooden sign strapped to his back, an umbrella rigged over his head and a little boy dummy hanging from his chest. He was pointing and shouting at cars, yelling about fire and brimstone and the Judgement of God. Well, Skylar of course was immediately enthralled. She said, "Mommy, Mommy did you see that? That man had a little boy hanging on him." Trying to decide where to start, I responded, "That was a dummy, baby." To which she inquired, "Which one was the dummy, Mommy? The big one or the little one?" Oh, out of the mouths of babes. lol

Memorial Day

We had a good weekend all in all. Spent most of the day today at Nana's pool where I am assuming we will also be spending most of the summer. The water was only 79. Still too cold for me but the kids didn't seem to mind at all.
Peyton wasn't too sure about the big pool. Aunt Melissa splashed her a few times and she loved that but...

this is where she spent most of her time. lol

Brayden seems to have gotten over his fear of the water and he can actually touch the bottom this year which is such a good thing.

His favorite thing was the water gun that he used to soak everyone, including me which didn't go over too well. lol

Skylar is a fish as always. She was the first one in and the last one out. She would stay in the pool all day if you would let her. She is swimming so good now. All across the pool including the deep end and her new thing is going down to touch the bottom of the pool. She is definitely my water baby.

Daddy's Love

Had a few more that I had to share from this week. We went to Matt's nephews baseball game this week and I was able to get a few shots of the kids' current obsession. Their Daddy....

They just love him to pieces. Whenever he is around everyone else is chopped liver. Also check out my photo-a-day blog over at www.ktsphotoaday.blogspot.com After much "gentle" prodding, I have decided to once again update with pics on a 'hopefully' daily basis. (Don't hold me to it too strictly, but I promise to do better!)

Teeball

Skylar is almost done with teeball and thought I would share a few pics from this week. She has enjoyed it this year more than any other and I think it has been a little easier on her Daddy (the coach) as well. Here she is playing pitcher, her favorite position.
Brayden so wants to be a part of the action and always comes over to the dugout to have a few words with Sissy.

Waiting to bat. One of the only times she actually wanted to pose. lol

She has had two awesome games at pitcher these past two weeks. Got several outs all by herself and was very proud. Wish that she was more interested in playing but I guess she isn't me. Next year I promised clogging. Oh boy! Can't wait for the recital pics. lol

Cypress Gardens Adventure

Every third Saturday of the month is Berkeley County Day at Cypress Gardens and BC residents get in free. We decided to take the kids this past weekend and it was a smashing success. They had a little exhibit where they brought out some animals that the kids could pet. They had lizards and turtles and even a couple of birds. Skylar loved having them on her shoulders. The other two...not so much. Brayden wasn't having any of it and Peyton wanted it on her shoulder but being so close to the ground, all the bird wanted to do was climb down her. She wasn't too thrilled with that.

Brayden was in a pretty argumentative mood and so spent a lot of time doing this...

We went on a walk but as you can see, only SOME of us did the walking.

Close encounter of the alligator kind. This little momma was standing watch over her little babies. We only saw one. He was about 12 inches long and too cute! If you can call a reptile cute. lol

It was a perfect day that we just had to finish off with some ice cream. Don't you love the green tongues? lol

Okay guys I am back!!!

Short and sweet tonight but I promise a longer update soon. Just wanted to let everyone know that we are all alive and well. It has been a busy and exhausting couple of weeks. I have so much to catch up on but I thought I would start off with some recent pics of the Three Amigos. The first two are how Brayden and Peyton go to bed every night...on their Daddy's back.
These piggyback rides have become a nightly ritual and no one but Daddy will do. It annoys me just a tad but it is actually pretty sweet. They love him so much. Peyton is totally Daddy's Little Girl. She lights up when he comes into a room and it's as if no one else even exists.
And last but not least we have Skylar. She has lost most of her baby teeth now and is growing up before our eyes. I can hardly believe that she will be turning 7 soon! Too crazy. Mom and I are taking her in June to San Diego to go visit family and I am so excited for her to get to meet everyone and see the place where I was born. I cannot wait to take her to all the places that I loved as a kid...the San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, Sea World, Seaport Village, Old Town. So much to share. It is going to be so much fun. I wish the others were able to come too but it would just be too much at this point. Maybe when they get a little older (and I win the lottery! lol)

Well, that's all for now. I promise to catch up more later. For now, I am exhausted and off to bed!
